Traffic accident in Zurich – several cars collide at the Enge train station – person trapped in the car

In bright weather, there was a car accident involving several people at Zurich Enge train station on Sunday followingnoon. At 3:45 p.m., two cars collided in a rear-end collision at the busy intersection of Bederstrasse and Seestrasse. Triggered by the collision, a following car drove head-on into the facade of a textile care store. The car was badly damaged and the shop window destroyed. The police, the fire brigade and an ambulance were on site immediately, and traffic had to be completely stopped in the meantime.

According to the city police, the passenger was seriously injured in the collision and had to be removed from the vehicle by the Zurich Protection & Rescue fire brigade. In order to free the 79-year-old, the professional fire brigade had to cut off the roof of the accident vehicle. For a safe rescue, the high-voltage battery of the hybrid car also had to be deactivated. The 85-year-old driver of the vehicle also suffered injuries in the collision and is in the hospital. The exact course of the accident is still unclear and the city police are looking for witnesses.
