The most anticipated event in Seattle each summer? This is obviously the CrawsOver held by Jamal Crawford. The living legend of Washington State continues to represent his region even following leaving the NBA courts, and the bleachers remain well filled. It must be said that this year, Trae Young, Dejounte Murray and John Collins did not come to sort the lenses.
The Crawsover, what a classic among the classics.
You can’t spend a summer without having an event hosted by Jamal Crawford, and without having young people stretching their legs while ending up on YouTube. Over the years, the greatest of the NBA have passed through Seattle to participate in this summer meeting, and the youngsters have also taken the opportunity to create a nice little hype. Paolo Banchero and Chet Holmgren teamed up last weekend to keep those calves warm, but the hype was taken to another level when the Hawks trio showed up at the Royal Brougham Pavilion in Seattle.
It must also be said that it was a first, and not just any: Trae Young in duo with Dejounte Murray, on the ground it is one of the most anticipated tandems of the next season in the NBA. After being transferred from San Antonio to Atlanta, Dejounte will have to take the Hawks to the next level alongside Trae Young and the questions are already multiplying. Can they evolve together? Will one balloon be enough? And will the group be cohesive around the pair? Impossible to rely on an exhibition match in the middle of summer to offer answers, but one thing seems certain: it should be fun and put on a show in Atlanta next year. With their vision of the game, their connection and their showmanship, Murray and Trae should fit well together. So if in addition you keep stations in orbit like John Collins or Clint Capela, there is a bit of potential to go to work.
Anyway, before letting Nate McMillan work with this new major five and talking regarding it in the 30 Previews in 30 Days, we leave you with these few images from this weekend. Stats fans? Know that Trae Young finished with 37 points and 13 assists, Dejounte Murray sent 39 points and 9 rebounds, while John Collins sent big dunk to finish with 27 points accompanied by 17 rebounds. Not sure that these lines will end up in the Hall of Fame, but if Atlanta’s start to the season is at its best in a few weeks, we can go back and say that the good agreement started in the middle of summer, in a remote gymnasium in the city of Seattle.
