Kantunilkín.- Traditional or herbal medicine was in greater demand during the pandemic in the community of San Ángel, as its residents resorted to it, consuming natural products, to take better care of their health, assured María Piedad Tuz Ramírez.
The President of the “Maya Dzak” association of traditional medicine, pointed out that the sale of these products did not decline, but on the contrary, it increased in this time of pandemic.
“And this allowed us to improve our sales, since we make this medicine ourselves, but we also managed to increase sales of soaps, creams, lotions, among others,” she said.
He recalled that the project began in 2002 with several women, of whom, now, only Lorenza Euán Hau, Aida María Baas Caamal and María Enelda Baas Camal remain, who meet every followingnoon at their premises to start their work, from ointments for rheumatism, reducing gel and for hair, ointments and shampoos of honey, aloe vera, among others.
He also said that the prices they have for the products are varied and range from 30 to 100 pesos, depending on what customers require.
“Obviously what was bought the most in this pandemic season were medicines such as lemon tea, melipona or stingless bee honey, ginger, among other products grown in the patios of each woman’s home,” she explained.
