Remembering King Dinh
Every year, on January 10 to 13, people and tourists from all over return to Gia Hung commune (Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh province) to attend the traditional Hoa Lu festival.
Here, people and tourists participate in incense offering and palanquin procession activities at Dinh Trai Communal House, Hoa Lu Cave and Thung Temple to show their respect to King Dinh and those who have contributed to the country.
Hoa Lu traditional festival is solemnly organized with many sacrificial rituals and processions along with folk cultural and artistic activities such as reed flag exercises, lion dancing, Cheo singing, Chinese chess competition and communication program. Save art… to create a joyful and exciting atmosphere.
The festival venue is at Hoa Lu cave (also known as Thung Lau, Thung Ong). In the past, Emperor Dinh Tien used Hoa Lu cave as a place to practice soldiers and horses and recruit soldiers.
After defeating and subduing 12 warlords, Dinh Tien Hoang proclaimed himself Van Thang Vuong, establishing Dai Co Viet – the first centralized feudal state of our country. Hoa Lu Cave was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic in 1996.
Hoa Lu Cave Traditional Festival is considered a traditional cultural activity, inheriting and promoting the good cultural identity of the Vietnamese people. At the same time, it is an opportunity to organize cultural and artistic exchange activities in the area.
