The commercial attaché of the Vice Ministry of Rediex of the MIC, Paola Subeldía, in the United Arab Emirates, commented on the work that has been carried out to open more Paraguayan products in the Emirati market, as well as the attraction of investors to the country.
In this sense, he pointed out that since the opening of the Rediex commercial attaché office in the United Arab Emirates, in February 2023, Paraguay‘s exports to that country have increased substantially, with grains and seeds standing out among the products.
There are also exports of novel products, such as samu’u trees, yerba mate and haute couture dresses.
He highlighted as a historical fact the first exports of cotton seeds to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and soon the United Arab Emirates. “Since the opening of the commercial office there we had an increase of 170% in exports from Paraguay to the United Arab Emirates,” he highlighted.
Regarding imports from said market, the commercial attaché explained that Paraguay mainly acquires oil and its derivatives from the Emirates.
Investment attraction
Likewise, he spoke about the recent visit of businessmen from the United Arab Emirates to Paraguay, specifically the Streit group, which is interested in investing in the automotive sector, including the manufacture of tactical vehicles and armored boats.
He indicated that the visit was positive, since the businessmen were impressed with the opportunities and benefits that Paraguay offers, according to the report from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC).
Likewise, he recommended that Paraguayan businessmen interested in doing business with companies from the Gulf countries seek advice through Rediex and the Embassy of Paraguay, emphasizing the importance of having specialized advice and carrying out due diligence on companies when establishing business relationships.
