Trade between Venezuela and Colombia grows during the 2nd two months of 2024

Trade between Venezuela and Colombia in the second two months of 2024 reached 304 million dollars, which represents a significant increase in a year-on-year comparison, reported the Venezuelan-Colombian Chamber of Economic Integration (cavecol).

During the same period in 2023, binational trade accumulated 236 million dollars, representing an increase of 28,9% for this year. Furthermore, 71% of the commercial exchange between Colombia and Venezuela occurs by land.

Approximately 26,6% was traded across the borders of Táchira and Norte de Santander, while between Paraguachón and Maicao an exchange of 135 million was recorded for an approximate 44,4% of the total traded.

Although Venezuelan exports to Colombia experienced a slight decrease of 2% in the second two months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, reaching 47 million dollars, Cavecol maintains a positive outlook for businessmen and exporters.

The main export products from Venezuela to Colombia during the second two months were: iron and steel casting, fertilizers, fuels and oils, organic chemical products, aluminum and its manufacturing.

Unlike exports, 77% of imports from Colombia were made by land. Paraguachón was the main customs of entry, with 132 million dollars, while the Táchira customs together added 66 million.

Likewise, Cavecol highlights the notable growth in imports as a positive indicator of the commercial dynamism between Venezuela and Colombia, which allows opening new opportunities for the economic development of both nations.
