Trade between Angola and Indonesia valued at 1.2 billion USD – news

Trade between Angola and Indonesia recorded a significant increase from 634 million US dollars in 2021 to 1.2 billion US dollars in 2022, as a result of the strengthening of bilateral cooperation recorded in recent times

The fact was revealed recently in Windhoek, by the Indonesian ambassador to Namibia also accredited in Angola, Wisnu Pratignyo, during the inauguration ceremony of the first honorary consul of that Asian country in Angola, Vicente Inácio. According to ANGOP, diplomat Wisnu Pratignyo recognized that there are friendly and productive relations between the two countries, a cooperation that has been reinforced by a series of high-level visits carried out in recent years, with emphasis on the visit of the Angolan diplomatic corps to Indonesia in 2016.

Regarding the inauguration of Indonesia’s first honorary consul in Angola, the ambassador said he hoped that Vicente Inácio would support the Embassy in promoting bilateral relations. He clarified that the appointment of the honorary consul results from the tangible implementation of the first political consultation between Indonesia and Angola, held virtually on October 7, 2021. For his part, Indonesia’s first honorary consul in Angola, Vicente Inácio, said that Indonesia and Angola share interests in the economy, agriculture, oil and gas.

According to Vicente Inácio, working with the Indonesian Embassy could contribute to strengthening and expanding bilateral relations, including raising awareness among the people of both countries. Still regarding this act, the special advisor to the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Acep Somantri, stated that the honorary consul represents the extension of his country’s embassy in Windhoek, with a view to supporting the diplomatic mission in Angola.

“The appointment of honorary consuls in Africa reflects the Indonesian Government’s tireless commitment to strengthening relations with African countries, supporting economic diplomacy and the protection of Indonesian citizens”, he reinforced. Therefore, Acep Somantri reiterated the commitment of the Government and the Indonesian diplomatic mission to support and work together with the honorary consul.
