Due to its conspicuous driving style, Puchenau police officers became aware of the car on Friday around 4:50 p.m. in Ottensheim (Urfahr-Environment district). The car was driven by a 28-year-old Albanian.
During the check it turned out that there were eight Kurdish Turks between the ages of nine and 45 in the vehicle. The driver wanted to bring the refugees from the Serbian-Hungarian border to Germany. The trafficker was arrested. The 28-year-old was taken to the Linz prison by order of the Linz public prosecutor.
This was the ninth time in three weeks that the police in the Mühlviertel and the greater Linz area had to deal with a smuggler transport. Most recently, in Linz, an Albanian who had picked up four illegal migrants in a car fled from the police (the OÖN reported). Recently, tractor vehicles have repeatedly been stopped along the B127.
