As the end-of-year holidays approach, many eyes are focused on covid-19, the incidence rate of which continues to increase in Occitania. Here are the numbers.

Incidence rates had made an increase during the month of November in Occitania. The dynamic continues according to the latest figures, which look at early December 2023 In the region.

As a reminder, the figures revealed by Santé Publique France, via its Geodes platform, concern rolling weeks. The latest one available on the service is from November 27 to December 3. It reports the incidence rate, per 100,000 inhabitants.

What figures in our departments?

How are these figures evolving, compared to the rates recorded between November 20 and 26? We take stock, department by department:

  • Lozère: 18.28 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 19.59 for the week of 20 to 26)
  • Tarn : 31.80 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 17.05)
  • Gard : 26.28 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 23.49)
  • Lot : 32.09 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 17.19)
  • Gers : 45.25 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 29.64)
  • Hautes-Pyrénées: 37.23 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 21.64)
  • Hérault: 45.16 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 36.87)
  • Haute-Garonne: 45.45 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 32.99)
  • Eastern Pyrenees : 38.54 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 36.41)
  • Hear: 48.44 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 38.96)
  • Aveyron: 28.19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 25.69)
  • Ariège: 47.67 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 43.75)
  • Tarn-et-Garonne: 52.61 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 45.42)

The incidence rate has therefore increased in all departments, except in Lozère. And in places, this increase was particularly pronounced: the figure almost doubled in the Tarn, the Hautes-Pyrénées and the Lot.

In the Tarn-et-Garonnethe incidence rate crosses the mark of 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. It is the only department in the region to suffer this fate.

And compared to other regions?

If 82 is the only Occitan territory to cross the threshold of 50, it is far from being the department most impacted by covid. In the Grand-Est region, the rates are very close to 150: the figure is 145,78 in the Bas-Rhin, 127,64 in Haut-Rhin or even 109,15 in Moselle, always in the last sliding week analyzed, in other words from November 27 to December 3.

The Occitanie region displays a rate of 40.27. This is very slightly lower than the national average, which is 41,76. Unsurprisingly, it is the Grand-Est which is the most affected, with an incidence rate of 100,36. Conversely, Île-de-France is the only one to defend a value lower than 20 (17,04).
