Vitalité Health Network says the emergency room at Tracadie Hospital in New Brunswick will be temporarily closed Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The network stressed in a press release that the closure was due to a critical shortage of nursing staff.

People needing emergency care are asked to call 911 or go to Enfant-Jésus Hospital in Caraquet or Chaler Regional Hospital in Bathurst.

During this period, all ambulances will be diverted to other hospitals.
