In life, we ask ourselves several dilemmas, and there is one that often comes up in the evenings, it is: What is the best Zelda? Between Ocarina of Time, Breath of the Wild or even Minish Cap, the Zelda series is of sufficient quality that no one is ever right. However, TPK offers you a court to highlight THE best Zelda ever created so far.

A little history

Zelda is a big Nintendo license, very roughly, we play Link there who recovers a sword from a bedridden man and who goes to kill an evil pig to save a princess and a divine artifact. There are about ten Zeldas over 35 years of history, each opus brings its little revolution and yet, we still don’t know which Zelda has had the most impact. Nevertheless, many speak of the Zelda Ocarina of Time as a model. To recontextualize, we are in 1998 and Nintendo is desperately trying to sell its Nintendo 64, this is where Ocarina of Time shows the tip of its nose. We have a game entirely in 3D, super ambitious, which becomes Zelda, the most successful of the time by mixing narration, gameplay and legendary music. It’s a global success with nearly 8 million copies sold worldwide and 33 million Nintendo 64 sales, it’s a victory and an excellent basis for the development of the next project.

Majora’s Mask, the rushed masterpiece

3D is all the rage and Ocarina of Time is a gem. What could be better than releasing another one on another console, namely the GameCube. There is little time left for Eiji Aonuma, the big boss of the license to release a new game at the height of Ocarina and this is where Zelda Majora’s Mask is created. A more mature and scary title, in a new region, embellished with a concept of time loop and become the best Zelda. A unique game, where we find Link who has his instrument stolen by a demon and who threatens to bring down a moon to take the entire population into a planetary cataclysm, a story that has nothing to do with a classic Zelda. The dark and creepy vibe can also be seen in the gameplay, the overall mood of the characters and the story. But the main interest of the gameplay is the idea of a time loop, where it is possible to speed up, slow down and above all go back in time thanks to a melody learned in Ocarina of Time: the song of time. This time loop gives depth to the world and makes it unique in the Zelda series. Majora’s Mask is a tour de force, a wacky experimentation, and an utterly one-of-a-kind quirk.
