The prices of several products will “downright drop” in the coming months, assured on franceinfo Michel-Édouard Leclerc this Monday morning. “Everything that is non-food, but also little produced in France, such as textiles, will go down completely,” explained the manager of the Leclerc stores, adding to the list “in the coming weeks, Christmas toys. There are real drops, of the order of 2 to 3%. »
He also cites the cereal market, which “has fallen enough this year that we can have cheaper pasta, and all the products around it like pizzas, etc. » The price of coffee is “rising once more, but it has remained stable” and there is talk of seeking price reductions. These declines are due to the drop in certain costs, for example that of “transport from Asia “, he explains.

“Inflation that must be halved”
For Michel-Édouard Leclerc, general inflation will decrease in the coming months. But not necessarily on the side of common products. “We have just seen a 17% increase in a year and a half. So for the curve to go down, we’re going to have to do it quickly,” he says.
A round of negotiations between the different market players, to limit or even bring down inflation, was opened by the government. “We are going to go there with a lot of energy, looking for reductions if we can”, especially among the multinationals from which distributors like Leclerc buy their products. There is “inflation that must be halved on food products, on current consumer products. There, many industrialists have hit households at levels not seen for a very long time. »
All the prices received at the start of negotiations “are between 6 and 10% increase request for 2024”, he explains, “we will have to reduce that to 2%, 3% maximum”.
