Toyota reopens its plants in Japan after a strong typhoon

Tokyo, Sep 2 (EFE).- World automobile leader Toyota Motor on Monday resumed production at all its factories in Japan following the passage of Typhoon Shanshan, which also disrupted operations at other Japanese manufacturers in this and other sectors, a company spokesperson confirmed to EFE.

Toyota announced on the 28th that it would suspend work at its 14 domestic plants in anticipation of the arrival of the typhoon, and later decided to extend this measure until Monday.

The Japanese manufacturer has not yet detailed the effect that this measure will have on its production volume.

Other domestic automakers, such as Mazda Motor, also announced the closure of several of their plants between Thursday and Friday of last week for safety reasons.

Similar measures were taken by camera and imaging equipment maker Canon and technology conglomerate Hitachi, while Aeon, one of the country’s leading retail groups, opted to reduce opening hours in Kyushu, in the southwest of the country.

Typhoon Shanshan, considered one of the strongest to hit Japan so far, hit the southwest of the country on Thursday and has already dispersed.
