Exciting “full tune” specifications
ToyotaWill unveil two performance car concepts at the “Tokyo Auto Salon” starting January 14th.
sameeventThen, Toyota GR Yaris will showcase a significantly improved model and a new racing car concept called GR GT3 to showcase the connection between Gazu Racing’s motor sports activities and commercial vehicles.
The preview image shows that the improved model, which is a “full tune” of the GR Yaris, which has a good reputation as a hot hatch, is a test vehicle that was witnessed at the Nürburgring two years ago.
It can be seen that the rear wing, the intake port of the bonnet, the dedicated front end, etc. have been improved to realize dynamic driving with an emphasis on aerodynamics.
The 1.6L 3-cylinder turbo engine may also have been upgraded to outperform the standard.
GT3 specification racing machine
Toyota says it “provides a car suitable for motor sports,” suggesting that it may have been influenced by the development of the new GR Yaris hybrid WRC car.
It is unclear at this stage whether it will be marketed as a specification of the current GR Yaris, offered as an upgrade package for existing vehicles, or just a showcase.
Alongside this GR Yaris, the new concept “GR GT3” that seems to have little relevance to the current commercial vehicle will be released. It is explained as “a race-only concept car that incorporates the knowledge and sophisticated technology that TGR has cultivated in the field of motor sports.”
This GT3 specification machine seems to be aimed at appealing Toyota’s efforts for motor sports along with various racing cars such as the GR010 hybrid that won Le Mans.
