Two ‘heavyweights’ of the off-road SUV segment faced off in a duel: Toyota Land Cruiser vs. Ranger Rover.
It’s always a ‘good show’ when vehicles with great reputations in the automotive market are put to the test, and even better if it’s a duel. Like this one, in which the Japanese Toyota Land Cruiser is measured once morest the English veteran Range Rover.
It was the specialized medium CarWow the one in charge of executing this challenge between the two major off-road SUVs. Basically, a test series on rough terrainin a circuit that included climbs and descents, as well as various obstacles along the way.
Here it must be said that the copy of the Land Cruiser (J200) used to carry out the tests, corresponds to a model of the previous generation which premiered in 2007 and was sold until last year, when a new commercial cycle began with the LC300.
Land Cruiser and Range Rover: the moment of truth
The specifications of each SUV for the challenge were as follows: The Toyota Land Cruiser came with a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine 272 hp of power and 650 Nm of torque. Off-road features like center block differential and low range transmission.
On the other side, we talk regarding the new Ranger Rover equipped with a 4.4-liter V8 biturbo gasoline engine. The power in this case is 530 hp y torque de 750 Nm. It also includes a wide off-road feature package which outnumbers those of the Japanese vehicle.
In total there were six tests, starting with a uphill Drag Race, a challenge of the same type but downhill, and a side slope showdown. Here, aspects such as suspension, chassis articulation, ground clearanceand more.
