The next generation “Crown” released by Toyota Motor Corporation on July 15th. The first model, the Crossover, has a raised floor and a rear seat height of more than 60 cm, which is higher than that of a sedan, making it easier to get on and off. It is said that the driver’s eye point is set much higher than the current crown, emphasizing the good view.
The floor height was earned by increasing the diameter of the tires, not by raising the height of the chassis. There are three tire sizes: 225/60R18 (nominal outer diameter 727mm), 225/55R19 (730mm), and 225/45R21 (736mm). Although the sizes are slightly different, the 60R18 and 45R21, which have the largest difference, have a radius of 4.5mm, and the nominal minimum ground clearance is 145mm for all grades. Among existing models, Toyota’s SUV “RAV4” and Mazda’s SUV “CX-5” wear 225/55R19.
Among these 3 sizes, 225/45R21, which is worn by 4 grades out of 7, is likely to become mainstream, but unlike the previous two, it is a slightly special size, and there are almost no commercial products yet. The brand name is Michelin “e・PRIMACY” for the luxury-oriented “G Leather Package” and “G “Advanced” Leather Package”. A new generation product that was just released last year that has improved quietness in anticipation of the EV era. The combined aluminum wheels also have a noise reduction structure.
Dunlop “SP SPORT MAXX 055” is combined with the high-performance “RS” and “RS ‘Advanced'”, which have a combined maximum output of 257 kW (350 ps) from the 2.4-liter turbo engine and battery. The part number 055 is the tread pattern, but 050 is generally seen in sports max, and 055 is the first time. Even if you search the official website, there is no listing as of July 15th, so it seems that the crown is the first appearance. 1.9 tons and 225 width are not so wide tread by modern standards, but it will be a means to earn lateral G and braking force with the strength of the grip force on the contact surface.
