The phrases “lack of supply”, “import affected” and “currency appreciation” have become among the most frequented by anyone interested in the auto sector, and indeed, according to the testimony of several experts, the market is currently experiencing a number of unprecedented crises.
Under these circumstances, some sellers, whether merchants or individuals, imposed some additional amounts of “over-price” on the official prices of a number of cars, in amounts close to 400,000 pounds for some models of the compact class.
This comes despite the latest decisions of the Consumer Protection Agency, which allowed dealers to approve additional amounts above the official car prices by no more than 5% in return for providing them with some accessories.
On the following pages, we review 5 examples that were affected by the overprice phenomenon, and the purchase price of some of them increased by more than 50%:
