Priyanka Kochhar, better known as BikeWithGirl, successfully towed a 7-ton truck with her electric motorcycle. To this end, she rode the Ultraviolette F77, one of the most powerful electric motorcycles in India.
One of the most exciting aspects of electric motorcycles is undoubtedly its incredible torque prowess. On paper, this power may not seem impressive. However, YouTuber BikewithGirl demonstrates it in a video where she tries to tow a 7-ton truck with her electric motorcycle.
Can this electric motorcycle really tow a 7-ton truck?
A motorcycle’s horsepower rating (and equivalent horsepower) may not seem particularly impressive on paper. However, the torque factor is indisputable. To fully test the torque of the Ultraviolet F77, Priyanka conducted a very interesting experiment. She tried to tow three different vehicles.
For the first test, the YouTuber heated up her electric two-wheeler to tow a small car. This operation turned out to be quite easy for the 100 Nm of torque.
The second test involved towing a 6,000 kg truck behind Priyanka’s electric motorcycle. A driver sits in the truck’s seat to put it in neutral, while BWG tries to move it forward with Ultraviolet. The start-up was slower and the driver had some hesitation learning to manage the extra load, but the test was still successful.
The ultimate goal: tow more than 7,500 kg
After meeting this challenge, BWG set itself an even bigger one. Could the F77 tow a 50-seater bus weighing around 7,500 kg? That would be 1,000 kilos too much. For the record, the Ultraviolet F77 weighs only 207 kg.
Once settled, Priyanka revved the motorcycle and drove away cautiously, followed by the huge bus. The proof being made, Priyanka decided not to stop there.
In fact, she decided to do something even bigger than the bus as a finale. For the final experiment, she attempted to tow a 7,500 kg bus and a 6,000 kg truck, a total of more than 13,500 kg with her electric motorcycle.
Despite this enormous weight, the F77 starts slowly until it builds up enough speed to allow Priyanka to tow the two enormous vehicles behind a small electric sports bike.
