At the Djoué water treatment plant, work is progressing normally on units A and B and the water catchment area on the banks of the Djoué. The supply of drinking water in the city of Brazzaville is currently experiencing disruptions. To remedy this, as part of the Extension Project in peripheral areas and reinforcement of the drinking water service in Brazzaville (PEPS), the Congolese Water Company (LCDE) plans to complete the work to upgrade and renew the equipment. of its Djiri plant in a month and that of Djoué in late July, according to its operations director, Bienvenu Ibara. The director of operations of the LCDE explained, on March 18, that with regard to the volume of work carried out, from one end to another, the finding is the same. At the Djoué water treatment plant, work is progressing normally on units A and B and the water catchment area on the banks of the Djoué. At the level of the second plant, that is to say the abloc pots, there is also the installation of anti-rams and the repair of the electrical cabinets (…). Similarly, at the level of the abloc pot of Djiri, the nature of the works consists in the renewal of equipment, the installation of new electric pumps, instead of reinforcing the water in the Soprogi district as was done before. Indeed, this plant which has a capacity of 900 m3/h, said Bienvenu Ibara, will pump water towards the Itatolo Station which is a reservoir of 5000 m3. It is from there that the water served will gravitate towards the Trois poteaux district and, from Soprogi 2, will serve the entire district 7, Mfilou. It should be noted that this work is carried out by a group of companies, namely Soger-Satom, SG-C Congo and Razel-BEC. The upgrading and renewal of equipment was necessary given the state of wear and aging of the old structures, such as the old Djoué factory, which had been in service since 1954.
