Dassault Systèmes and Asics are opening a joint studio near Paris to test a new service designed to produce on-demand personalized insoles that fit the shape of each customer’s foot.

The “Asics Personalization Studio” is an ultra-compact factory. This modular structure combines Dassault Systèmes’ 3DExperience platform and virtual twin technology with technology developed by Asics in the athletic footwear sector, enabling footwear components to be manufactured on-site and on demand to meet each customer’s precise specifications.

ASICS used its expertise, supported by Dassault Systèmes modeling and simulation technology, to design the shape of the insole based on foot shape data modeled and simulated on the 3DExperience platform. Advanced 3D printing technology is then used to create the sole, a thick mesh structure made from layering of highly flexible materials to provide a breathable and highly flexible finished product. The degree of flexibility can be precisely varied for different parts of the foot, promoting recovery while reducing tension and improving performance.

ASICS plans to conduct operational testing and monitor customer satisfaction during pilot events towards larger-scale commercialization. In 2025, the “Asics Personalization Studio” will be moved to Japan for further testing, and the company will then consider applying the technology to other elements of its shoes.

“We look forward to working with Dassault Systèmes as part of our Asics Personalization Studio. Our partnership leverages the advanced expertise and technology of two industry-leading companies to provide the best value for each customer, allowing them to Live a healthier, more fulfilling life with products that meet their needs, said Chief Operating Officer Mitsuyuki Tominaga, representing ASICS.

“We share Asics’ commitment to innovation that improves health and well-being. This is reflected in our partnership as we propose a holistic manufacturing approach that puts the consumer experience first,” said Pascal Daloz, CEO of Dassault Systèmes. “This partnership also demonstrates how virtual worlds can contribute to the 21st century economy. With its scientific foundation, our virtual twins can not only help manufacturers improve the performance and experience of their products, but also provide a more sustainable economic model. »
