Vaccination session, January 8, 2022, at the Covid 24 Hours Center recently opened in Sarrola-Carcopino, Corsica.
The government will open the booster vaccine once morest Covid-19 to 12-17 year olds living alongside frail people, the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday.
Last week, the High Authority for Health (HAS), responsible for guiding the government in its vaccination policy, recommended “administering a booster dose in adolescents living in the entourage of immunocompromised people or vulnerable people who do not would not be vaccinated”.
“We will take this opinion into account, probably this week,” announced the Ministry of Health during a press briefing. Until now, recalls were only possible in this age group for adolescents at risk of serious forms of the disease.
Before possibly generalizing the recall to all 12-17 year olds, the government is awaiting new recommendations from health authorities.
Meanwhile, regarding 175,000 children between the ages of 5 and 11 have received a dose of the vaccine so far, or 3 percent of the eligible population, the ministry noted on Tuesday.
“It is less and less difficult to find a niche”, welcomed the ministry, which wishes that “90% of vaccination centers will soon be equipped with a dedicated pediatric line”.
First open in mid-December to children aged 5-11 likely to have severe forms of Covid-19, vaccination was extended a few days later to all children in this age group. But it is struggling to take off.
