Tourist receipts at 71.1 billion dirhams at the end of October

Compared to their pre-crisis level, they appreciated by 6.1%, following +3.5% a month earlier and -57.4% at the end of October 2021, specifies the DEPF in its economic note for the month of December.

Indeed, tourist receipts continue their momentum, marking a performance in October of +142.1%, year-on-year, and +29.1% compared to October 2019.

“After reaching a record level in the third quarter of 2022, i.e. 34.8 billion dirhams, an improvement of 240.6% in one year and 30.6% compared to the same quarter of 2019, tourist receipts continue to gain momentum”, emphasizes the DEPF.

Tourist arrivals to the “Morocco” destination were also characterized by a remarkable recovery during the summer period. Their recovery rate compared to their pre-crisis level was 93% during the period from June to September 2022.

This recovery rate was 101% in September 2022 and reached 91% for both arrivals and overnight stays, following 88% and 71% respectively in the 2nd quarter of 2022, notes the DEPF. At the end of the first nine months of 2022, tourist arrivals stood at 7.7 million tourists and overnight stays in classified accommodation establishments stood at 13.3 million overnight stays, i.e. respectively 76% and 69% of their pre-crisis level. Compared to last year, arrivals and overnight stays have consolidated by 173.5% and 99.3% respectively.
