Asunción, IP Agency.- The Senatur Tourist Observer estimated that during Holy Week the flow of visitors to different parts of the country generated an economic movement of US$ 83,309,021.
The Minister of the Ministry of Tourism (Senatur), Sofía Montiel, presented the results this Wednesday, where she highlighted the diversity of the tourist offer during holy days and the coordinated work between the institution and the organization of the activities.
Holy Week gathered thousands of visitors, with its epicenter on Good Friday. On this date were held the traditional pilgrimages of Tañarandy, which gathered more than 25,000 people, the Camino de las Luces in Concepción and the via crucis on Cerro Ñemby, which gathered 20,000 people each, and others more across the country . . . .
To this is added the visits made to the attractions offered by the Itaipu and Yacyretá binationals, which brought together between 15,000 and 2,600 people, respectively.

Holy days also registered the arrival of 27,582 foreign tourists, which represents 44% more than in Holy Week in 2022.
This flow of visitors meant an income of US$ 19,969,368 for the country. The largest tourist influx came from our neighbor Argentina (78.02%), followed by Brazil (8.28%); Uruguay (2.82%); United States (1.54%), and from other countries (7.61%).

Hotel occupancy also increased compared to last year. The Observer pointed out that the occupancy rate was 80%, the same occupancy rate for non-hotel establishments (which includes tourist inns, hostels, rural tourism places, among others).
In this way, these global numbers reflect an increase of more than 70% in terms of income, compared to the data for Easter 2019 pre-pandemic.
