The Irish airline Ryanair inaugurated on Sunday a new air link between Ouarzazate and Barcelona which will be operated at the rate of two weekly flights, as part of its summer 2023 program.
The inaugural flight of this new air service, which reinforces Ryanair’s international network, landed at Ouarzazate airport from the capital of the Catalonia region with 81 passengers on board.
The launch of this airline is the result of the efforts and joint action of the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), as well as several actors and provincial officials. The ONMT had announced in February an extended program which concerns eight Moroccan tourist destinations, in order to accompany them to prepare well for the summer season. Thus, the ONMT has encouraged the opening of 35 new lines with 10 airlines for the 2023 summer season.
In addition, passenger traffic recorded a remarkable increase at Ouarzazate airport during the first two months of 2023 compared to the same period of the previous year. This growth is set to continue, thanks above all to the inauguration of four new weekly services, including two to Spain and two others to Great Britain. These services are in addition to domestic flights and connections provided from Ouarzazate airport to France.
