Tourism receipts up 120% compared to 2019

Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament, government spokesperson, Mustapha Baïtas said Thursday that tourism sector revenues for the year 2022 recorded an increase of 120% compared to 2019.

“Tourism has experienced a strong recovery following the opening of the borders in comparison with the year 2019”, indicated Mr. Baïtas during a press briefing held at the end of the Council of the government, specifying that the receipts have increased by 120% between 2019 and 2022.

The tourism sector will experience, over the coming months, the launch of several innovative projects, including the revision of promotional campaigns, added the Minister. On another note, Mr. Baïtas said that exports from the handicraft sector will for the first time exceed the threshold of one billion dirhams at the end of current December due to the strong demand for national handicrafts, recalling that “the best figure achieved by Morocco so far in this area was 795 million dirhams”.
