Tourism professionals are witnessing the return of foreign customers

Tourism professionals can rub their hands: foreign customers are already back in France.

End of health restrictions and good weather go hand in hand for tourism professionals. Not only will 65% of French people stay in France for their summer holidays but in addition, foreign customers are back in France at the beginning of July.

A foreign clientele 4 times more numerous than last year at the same time

Dutch, Germans, Italians, Belgians, they already tread the edges of the beach even if, on the contrary, there are very few Chinese and Japanese visitors. In Gironde, the manager of a campsite near the Arcachon basin explains that her foreign clientele is four times more numerous than last year at the same time.

Reservations up 10.7%

A study by PAP Vacances shows that reservations for this summer are up 10.7% compared to before Covid-19. If the rental prices for houses (+7.3%) and apartments (+5.2%) are up by more than 5%, the camping keeps its fans and new followers.

For destinations, holidaymakers have chosen guaranteed sunshine… The fault is the gloomy summer of 2021. For 2022, a majority of French people have chosen the south which is being taken by storm and more particularly the south-east. As a result, the coastline of the western facade is in retreat. + 30.6% for the Côte d’Azur compared to 2019 (06, 83 and 13), + 20.3% for Corsica (2A and 2B), + 7.5% for Languedoc (30-34, 11 and 66) when, at the same time, the west coast is in retreat: – 10.1% for the Brittany and the Loire Atlantique– 10.2% for Vendée-Charente (85 and 17), according to the PAP Vacances survey.

As for destinations outside France, Spain fell by 7.4 points while the Portugal drop to -32.4%.
