The absence of snow in the Old Capital has an impact on the tourism industry, while traffic is down compared to 2022.

The rain of recent days saddens international tourists who have traveled to admire the magic of Old Quebec.
“I mightn’t wait to see the snow. We are a little sad. We wanted to have a white Christmas that we can’t see in Mexico,” a resident of Mexico City told TVA Nouvelles.
As for tourists from other regions, there would be fewer of them in Quebec due to the lack of snow.

Data compiled by Destination Québec cites a gap between the proportion of hotel rooms reserved in 2023 versus 2022.
While the latter amounted to 80% between December 24, 2022 and January 1, 2023, the proportion is lower for the same period a year later, at 74%.
“We were encouraged that there was not a wave of cancellations, but yes, reservations have slowed down compared to last year […] there were a few impacts in terms of rain, but not as dramatic as we expected,” shared Robert Mercure, director of Destination Québec cited.
