Tourism: Bad Füssing is among the top three in Bavaria

Germany’s most visited health resort, Bad Füssing, right on the border with the Innviertel, was one of the three biggest “guest magnets” in Bavaria in 2023. This emerges from the preliminary figures presented by the Bavarian State Office for Statistics.

With around two million overnight stays last year, Bad Füssing once once more made it into the top three municipalities with the most overnight stays. Bad Füssing, with its three large thermal baths, was only surpassed by the two Bavarian metropolises of Munich and Nuremberg.

The health resort belongs to the exclusive circle of only nine communities in Bavaria with more than a million overnight stays. Bad Füssing easily leaves large cities like Augsburg (1.3 million overnight stays) or Regensburg (1.1 million) behind.

“Bad Füssing’s place in the top three underlines once once more the tourism and economic importance of our town for the region, as well as for Bavaria as a business location,” says Bad Füssing’s First Mayor Tobias Kurz. The place recorded around 98,000 overnight stays by foreign holidaymakers in 2023 – a significant increase of 50 percent compared to 2022. Most of them came from Austria, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Bad Füssing has been popular with Innviertel residents for many years, especially for day trips to one of the thermal baths.

Those responsible in Bad Füssing are optimistic for 2024: “We see a noticeable increase in arrivals and overnight stays in January compared to last year,” says Daniela Leipelt, spa and tourism manager. She is confident that this positive trend for Bad Füssing will continue throughout 2024.
