Given the large number of tourists affected by bad weather, Touring has decided to extend its services to customers who are not covered for this type of situation. The same goes for Europ Assistance, which has decided to come to the aid of the people concerned, whereas usually, early returns following bad weather are not planned.
Touring received 260 calls and 90 applications were accepted, said spokesman Joost Kaesemans. In this case, customers benefit from the provision of a replacement vehicle or repatriation. For people who are not covered, Touring has nevertheless decided to help them organize replacement transport, repatriate seriously damaged vehicles, provide them with temporary accommodation or bring them back to Belgium, but at their own expense, indicates association in a press release.

Europ Assistance recorded around a hundred requests of all kinds. Twenty families have also requested repatriation and one or more buses will be chartered on Tuesday to organize a group return. The situation is changing daily and the number of people, and therefore of buses, might change by then, specifies Xavier Van Caneghem, spokesperson for Europ Assistance. A group return of damaged vehicles will also be set up via a service provider.
