After the difficult Pyrenean stages, the cycling pros used today’s first rest day of the Tour de France to gather strength for today’s continuation.
“The rest day came at just the right time,” says Michael Gogl. The Wolfsegger recently had to deal with gastrointestinal problems, which made the 3405-kilometer tour even more difficult.
Nevertheless, the Alpecin team driver was able to draw a very positive interim balance. No wonder, since teammate Jasper Philipsen had won three out of nine stages.
For Felix Gall, who is second in the mountain classification, the overall ranking (16th) is gaining in importance: “It’s more important now and it’s already in the back of my mind. You can’t have everything – a stage, the jersey and the classification. Me will hold back on the next stages and rather push the mountain jersey to the side.”
