Between Aigle and Chatel, adventurers will have a golden opportunity to shine. If the stage is too hard for the punchers and the sprinters, the last difficulty of the day, the Pas de Morgins, should not encourage the men in the general classification to fight a big fight. Any profit for good climbers left behind in the general to slip into the morning breakaway which has a good chance of going to the end.
After a big hour of racing, a large group of around twenty riders found themselves at the front with three Belgians: Wout van Aert, Jasper Stuyven and Kobe Goossens. In the Col de la Croix, the group of breakaways exploded and several elements were released including Stuyven and Bonnamour.
