Julian Alaphilippe will not participate in the Tour de France this year. The double world champion does not appear in the selection unveiled by the Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl team this Monday followingnoon. Alaphilippe had just made his comeback during the French championship this Sunday following having fallen heavily in Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
After his fall in Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Julian Alaphilippe had set off in a race once morest the clock to be able to be present at the Tour de France which starts this Friday, July 1. A Tour where he will ultimately not be present, just like his teammate Mark Cavendish, freshly crowned champion of Great Britain.
Back in training, the French rider raced for the first time in competition this Sunday during the French championships where he finished in 13th place. A championship won by his teammate Florian Seneschalalso absent from this selection.
For this 2022 edition, the team of Patrick Lefevere will mainly bet on its Dutch sprinter Fabio Jakobsenlaunched by the infallible Danish pilot fish Michael Morkov. This will be the first participation in the Grande Boucle for Jakobsen, who has a team entirely at his service in the sprint stages. It will then be a question of chasing the stages for the Belgian formation which has two black yellow red representatives in its selection in the person of Tim Declercq et Yves Lampaert.
