Organized since 2005 for individual events, and since 2010 for team events, these championships are the premier competition in sporting logging and bring together more than 13,000 spectators and hundreds of thousands of television viewers each year in France alone. Using techniques based on traditional logging methods, athletes compete in a series of extremely physically and technically demanding events, combining precision and speed, in the handling of saws, axes, and chainsaws.. More than 2,000 practitioners, divided into the Pro, Women and Rookie categories, promote this atypical, intense and spectacular sport every year.
During these 2 days of extreme competitions in Toulouse, the 120 best sports loggers in the world will come together for team and individual events.
The individual competition will bring together the 2024 national champions from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States as well as the eight best national champions in Europe. In this format, athletes will compete in two events with chainsaws, three with axes, and one with saws. Classic ax events include the Springboard, Underhand Chop and Standing Block chop. As for the saw and chainsaw competitions, these are the Single Buck (all-purpose saw), the Stock Saw (stock chainsaw) and the Hot Saw (ultra powerful chainsaw with up to 80 horsepower, prepared especially for the competition).
The “team” format, in which the French team will participate among around twenty teams, is a competition during which the four athletes from the same team compete in relays during elimination duels. on four events: the Stock Saw, the Underhand Chop, the Single Buck and the Standing Block Chop.
