Saturday takes place in Toulouse, the first fashion show led by people affected by cancer. An event that allows you to discover supportive care, including image counseling that helps to regain a self-image that has been damaged by illness. Treatments that are often little known.
Discovering that a color can illuminate a face, that a cut of clothing can enhance your figure… Emmanuelle Bonnet, head of the be Conseil en Image Spécialisé company, is launching a festive and benevolent initiative on Saturday 1 October. A parade of 21 women and 6 men in the treatment phase for cancer or in the post-cancer phase, and their helpers, who became models for one evening to take up a challenge. “This parade, the idea of which is inspired by a Lille association, aims to make known the support care (sophrology, nutrition, reflexology, aromatherapy, etc.), provided in addition to medical treatments, by professionals to break the isolation of the patient, explains Emmanuelle Bonnet. This parade, a real challenge for these people, is one of the many ways to overcome the fear and shame sometimes linked to the disease and to reconcile with one’s body”.
“Without supportive care, I would not be here today”, assures Patricia, 48, suffering from breast cancer and who on Saturday parades, presenting four different outfits. “I wanted to parade to take up a challenge and also thank the Parenthèse and Emmanuelle who supported me so much”. “Talking regarding the disease to caring people does a lot of good. Just like getting involved in an activity clears your head,” she confirms. Which doesn’t prevent me from having mad stage fright to parade on a 30-meter podium, in front of 300 people. Luckily my family will be there to support me.”
