The traditional circus – certainly inherited from the ancient circus and the Barnum circus, has always existed or almost. Its origin is often dated to January 9, 1768.
The Cirque de Toulouse arrives at the Hippodrome
That day, an Englishman, Philip Astley (1742-1814) responded to the king’s invitation Louis XVand installed a track in Paris around which he made his horse gallop: the first track was born.
The one who is currently welcomed at l’hippodrome of Cépière on Toulouse Christmas Circus throughout the month of December will be much bigger – it will even be the largest circus in the Toulouse region at this festive end of the year. You can enjoy it until January 7, 2024.
A new show
This fifth edition offers a completely renewed program with the best circus artists of the moment and incredible acts. The organizers promise us 1 hour 45 minutes of a colorful show!
All circus disciplines will be represented to put myriads of stars in the eyes of young and old alike. There will be juggling with maestro David Arriola and flying trapeze with the famous Brazilians Flying Regio, from the Arlette Gruss circus. Edi Takacs will offer a breathtaking balancing act on canes and the Italian Alessia Macaggi will demonstrate all her agility and skill at the pole dancein the Waterbowl and aerial straps specialties: a beautiful moment of grace and poetic weightlessness.
Knife throwers!
We’ll hold our breath when the Ontico Brothers hit the track: these knife throwers are formidable in their precision and their show, unprecedented in Toulouse, is, we were told, of very high quality!
No circus without a magician. The aptly named Magic Eotvos will deploy all his talents as a magician with sleight of hand and illusion which will leave spectators wide-eyed. And, of course, no circus without clowns : the Konyot Family will take over between the numbers, making the children scream with laughter! That’s what the circus is: wonder, the unusual, thrills and lots of laughter.
