On August 25, volunteers from LifeLine Animal Project shared the story of Milo. A few days earlier, this 8-month-old puppy had been left outside the shelter by its former owner. The latter wanted to explain this gesture in a letter.
“I am on the street, and I can no longer provide for them”
« Please don’t judge me on this one act. I’m just a human being trying to do what’s best for my dog, can we read there. I am on the street, and I can no longer provide for his needs. I tried to re-place him and look for foster families. »

After failing, the owner decided to bring his puppy to the shelter, in hopes that he would be saved. “ It’s the only way. I know you will take it and that it is safe. He’s a sweetheart, he’s very well behaved “, he added. The individual also provided the dog’s name, age, vaccination status and favorite treats and activities, reports People.
Volunteers touched in the heart
Affected by this letter, the members of the LifeLine Animal Project chose to respond via their page Facebook. « We found your dog where you left him, in a place where he was not at risk of being hit by a car or injured while roaming free in search of sanctuary “, they wrote.
They indicated that Milo had been immediately taken in, joining hundreds of other dogs housed in the establishment, then they expressed their empathy towards the owner.

« We thought regarding how you must have felt writing this message as you left your friend behind. What a courageous act of self-sacrifice to risk scorn and judgment by trying to do what’s best for Milo. Thanks to your message, we know his name, his age, that he has been friends with other dogs and cats, and that he is clearly loved “, they added.
That’s not all: the shelter expressed its wish to help the owner of Milo. « We love him, too, and we will do everything in our power to help him come home. If you are reading this and there is a chance that we can help you find Milo and support you both, please do not hesitate to contact us. You will be greeted with compassion and understanding. Milo deserves the security of a home, and so do you. »
A new start
In just a few hours, the canine’s story went viral on Facebook. The community’s reaction was ” amazing “, according to LifeLine Animal Projectbut this did not allow the volunteers to find the owner of Milo.
