Like every year, Obon is an opportunity for children to express their filial piety to their parents in different ways. According to the records of Qing’an Temple (District 12), many people and Buddhists came here to participate in the ceremony to thank their parents for their upbringing.

In Buddhist concepts, roses symbolize parents’ filial piety, gratitude and appreciation for their parents. The ceremony of pinning roses on the chest is a meaningful activity that touches many people.

The flower-laying ceremony was held in a solemn and warm atmosphere.

Families from many generations would gather at the temple to pay homage to their deceased loved ones.

During the ceremony, the words of thanks to parents and the image of wearing roses reminded the participants of their parents and filled them with emotion. Many people shed tears in memory of their deceased parents before they have time to repay their parents’ filial piety, or they shed tears of regret when they think of the mistakes they made that made their parents sad.

During the ceremony, the eminent monks wore yellow roses on their chests. Those who still have a father and mother wear red roses. People who have lost a parent are given a light pink flower. And people who have lost a parent will wear white roses.

Wulan Xiao is a spiritual and cultural festival with a long history. It is an opportunity for every child to honor their ancestors and express gratitude to their parents.

After the flower arrangement ceremony, some Buddhists’ eyes were red because they remembered the image of their parents – they sacrificed their youth to raise and educate them and achieve what they have achieved today.

Serving tea and washing the feet of children in response to their parents’ nurturing grace brings tears to the eyes of many Buddhists.

Ms. Lam Anh Ngoc (born in 1985) said with emotion: “Actually, the tears shed during Obon do not represent weakness, but remind us to cherish the existence of our parents. Now, young people should boldly embrace their parents more and not let a gap appear between them and us. Young people, please temporarily Put aside having fun and limit the time spent on casual games. Instead, let us spend more time with our parents, because it is our parents who raised us, and let us be with them as much as possible…”

The Bon Festival is not only an opportunity for children and grandchildren to pray for their deceased grandparents and parents, but also to express their gratitude to their parents for their upbringing when they were alive…
