London (AFP) – English club Tottenham announced on Tuesday the signing of Croatian international midfielder Ivan Perisic on a free deal from Inter Milan.

The 33-year-old will join the London club on a two-year contract, knowing that the current link that links him to Inter expires at the end of next June.

“We are pleased to announce the deal for Ivan Perisic,” Spurs said in a statement. “The highly experienced Croatian international will join the club on July 1, with the expiration of his contract at Inter and he has agreed to a contract that runs until 2024,” Spurs said in a statement.

Perisic worked with current Tottenham Hotspur coach Antonio Conte when they won the league title with Inter in the 2020-2021 season. However, he refused the offer from Nerazzurri to move to the English Premier League.

He previously won the German League title with Borussia Dortmund (2012) and Bayern Munich (2020), and scored in the 2018 World Cup final when his country lost once morest France (4-2).

Perisic is a versatile player who can play as a left-back, winger, second striker or attacking midfielder.

He joined Inter in 2015 from German Wolfsburg and moved for one season to Bayern Munich on loan (2019-2020).

“After 254 games, 55 goals, 49 assists and three titles with this glorious shirt… my journey here comes to an end… it was an unforgettable experience for me as a player and my family,” he wrote in a post and claimed on Instagram.

Perisic scored the winning double following the extension to lead Inter to the cup title this season at the expense of Juventus (4-2). He also won the Italian Super Cup in 2021.
