In Hungary, Mercedes achieved almost the maximum result, having won the pole position and two places on the podium. Toto Wolff is pleased with the performance of the riders, but expects more from the team…
Toto Wolff: “Lewis has incredible fighting qualities. In Budapest, he always performed well. As the race progressed, he appeared out of nowhere and was the fastest. He did not win this race only because DRS did not work in qualifying on his car, otherwise he would have fought for victory.
George performed well in qualifying, won the pole position, had a good race. He monitored the condition of the tires and participated in the struggle, but in the second segment of the race, the tires simply did not work.
It’s great to finish second and third in two races in a row, but we want to fight for the victory. On the other hand, following a bad Friday, I’m happy with the result. We are still learning how to operate this machine. We were fast in Hungary, but we shouldn’t overestimate our speed. While we are moving from stage to stage, we are learning and experimenting so that at the end of the season we will be able to fight for victories.”
