In a press release published on Monday August 28, TotalEnergies announced the maintenance of the fuel price cap at 1.99 euros per liter, until the end of 2023.

The decision dates from last February, but TotalEnergies renewed its promise on Monday, August 28: to cap the price of a liter of fuel at 1.99 euros “until the end of the year”. This, while the rise in prices in this area weighs more and more heavily on the purchasing power of households.

In February the CEO of TotalEnergies, Patrick Pouyanné, had already announced his intention to maintain this measure “for the whole year”. At the time, the leader of the group had indicated that “4 out of 10 stations” posted “a price higher than 2 euros per litre”.

2,200 service stations already affected

But, since July, the price of the SP98 has increased by ten cents, that of the SP95-E10 by eleven, while that of the diesel has climbed by 17 cents.

In the press release published on MondayTotalEnergies therefore specifies that of its 3,400 service stations, 2,200 now apply the price cap, with “at least one fuel” at 1.99 euros per liter.

At the same time, the company announced a recruitment campaign for gas station attendants in order to cultivate “proximity to its customers”. Total Energies also plans to open new service stations, particularly in French rural areas.

These establishments will forge “partnerships” in order to “contribute to the development of social ties and local commercial dynamism”. Various services will be offered, such as the “rental of electric bicycles”, the establishment of “gray cards”, shops, parcel relays or even “car garages”.
