A 45-year-old from Linz was driving from Perg towards Langenstein on Wednesday evening around 6 p.m. A 36-year-old motorcyclist from the Perg district was driving behind him. Near the intersection of the B3 and the L 1411 in the Mauthausen area, the car driver tried to overtake a vehicle in front of him. At the same time, the motorcyclist also began overtaking – this almost led to a side collision. As a result of the maneuver, the motorcyclist skidded, fell from his motorcycle and slid regarding 30 meters towards a guardrail, where he finally came to rest on the adjacent embankment.

The rescue workers carried out initial measures and the seriously injured motorcyclist was treated by the emergency doctor. He was finally flown to the hospital in the “Christophorus 10” emergency medical helicopter.
The Red Cross, emergency medical helicopters, police and two fire departments were deployed to help the fallen motorcycle driver and clear the road. The B3 had to be closed for around 2 hours for the accident investigation and initial measures, which made a local diversion necessary.
