Total closure of the Alexandria Desert Road for the construction of the Great Museum metro station, starting tomorrow

The Traffic Department is conducting a total closure of the Cairo-Alexandria desert road in the direction (coming from the bottom of the Ring Road to the Remaya Square) from tomorrow Friday until July 30, to implement the works of the “Great Museum” subway station, amid the presence of traffic services to follow the movement of cars.

A security source at the Ministry of Interior revealed that, within the framework of the coordination procedures for the completion of the (second phase) handover of the construction site of the “Grand Museum” metro station on the Alexandria Desert Road, in the area facing the Grand Egyptian Museum, within the fourth line metro station project, after handing over the first phase of the stations’ sites. The subway (Tree Gardens – Al-Ahram Gardens – Al-Nasr – the Great Museum – Shooting Square – Al-Ahram – Mariouteya – Al-Arish – the printing press – Talbieh – Madkour) and the request of the National Authority for Tunnels and the Arab Contractors Company executing the project to receive the second phase of the works site of the Grand Museum station on the Alexandria Desert Road along the length of Approximately 380 m and a width of approximately 18 m.

The source added that the matter requires the implementation of a total closure of the Alexandria Desert Road in the direction coming from the bottom of the ring road towards the Remaya Square, specifically starting from the area facing the Grand Egyptian Museum (after the house of the ring road leading to the Shooting field at a distance of 150 m) until the area facing the Steigen Burger Hotel ) Starting at 6 am tomorrow, Friday, March 18, 2022, until the morning of Saturday, July 30, 2022.

The source added that the Traffic Department made traffic diversions, the most prominent of which are:

First: The movement of vehicles coming from the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road from areas (Al-Waha – New Giza) and wishing to walk in the direction of (Al-Remaya Square – Fayoum Road – Al-Ahram Street – King Faisal Street) they go up the ring road in the direction leading to the top of the Mansourieh area and then get off from Home the ring road leading to Mansourieh Road and continue walking to the Kufra Nassar area and walk in the following directions:

1- Vehicles wishing to go in the direction of King Faisal Street should go up at the newly developed Kufra Nassar Bridge and continue walking until the bottom of the newly developed Mishaal Bridge, then turn around and return towards King Faisal Street.

2- The movement of vehicles wishing to go in the direction of El Remaya Square and Fayoum Road, walk on the surface of the newly developed Kufra Nassar Bridge and walk right from the bottom of the bridge in the direction of El Remaya Square, Fayoum Road, and Al Ahram Street.

Second: The movement of vehicles coming from the top of the ring road through the house leading to the shooting range and wishing to walk in the direction of Fayoum Road and Al-Ahram Street, follow the following path:

1- Walk for 150 m on the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road, then turn and return through a turning hole that was created before the closing site, specifically in the area facing the Grand Egyptian Museum, then turn and return to the Alexandria Desert Road again, then walk right towards the bottom of the ring road (Gatati area) and continue the walk Until its intersection with Al-Mansuriya Road, then take a right “obligatory” on the newly developed Al-Mansuriya Road, until the Kufra Nassar area, and enter right in the direction of Al-Remaya Square and Al-Fayoum Road.

The source pointed out that the General Directorate of Giza Traffic appointed irrigated services and published directional signs and warning signs in the vicinity of works and transfer areas.
