Torreón Influenza Vaccination Campaign Experiences High Demand Amid COVID-19 Pandemic Aftermath

A high demand for vaccines to prevent seasonal influenza The Ministry of Health is currently serving the municipalities of Torreón, Matamoros and Viesca, corresponding to Health Jurisdiction VI, so the first two shipments have already been sold out and the doses corresponding to a third reshipment have recently begun to be applied.

In this way, it will be possible to move faster towards meeting the goal established for the annual vaccination campaign that It started in mid-October and will remain in force until March 2025.comments Dr. César Alejandro del Bosque Garza, head of Health Jurisdiction VI.

The official attributed the high demand for immunization that is currently registered, to the fact that in recent years people’s interest in protecting their health has grown, after the impact that generated the Covid-19 pandemic in the spirit and conscience of the population.

Regarding the number of doses that have been applied so far within the jurisdictional territory under his charge, he explained that The 18,200 doses received in the first shipment were sold out very quicklyand the 22,200 of a second delivery suffered the same fate, so in the past few days it was necessary to request the third shipment, which arrived with a total of approximately 38,000.

Del Bosque Garza reiterated the call to the population interested in getting vaccinated to prevent seasonal flu and its possible serious complications, to not hesitate to go to the nearest health center, where there is enough biological material to continue responding to a high demand, and even to enable itinerant care modules such as those that are usually present in public spaces and even in some of the busiest shopping centers.

He recalled that although the priority in this case continues to be people who are usually more susceptible to possible infection, such as younger children, older adults, pregnant women and all those who suffer from a chronic illness.

However, now the vaccine is also generally available to all those who come to request it.

"Flock to the Jab, Folks! (Before it’s Too Late… Again)"

Ah, the flu vaccine: because who doesn’t love a good needle in the arm to start the day? (Jimmy Carr-esque chuckle) Seriously though, it seems like the Ministry of Health is doing a bang-up job of getting those doses out to the good people of Torreón, Matamoros, and Viesca. I mean, 18,200 doses sold out in the first shipment? That’s like me selling out a gig at the Apollo (Ricky Gervais nod). And the second shipment of 22,200? Gone, faster than a plate of Lee Evans’ famous "value for money" all-you-can-eat buffet!

But seriously, folks, it’s great to see people taking their health seriously. I mean, who wouldn’t want to avoid the dreaded flu? (Rowan Atkinson’s Mr. Bean-esque shudder) It’s like a bad case of the Mondays, but all week. And with the COVID-19 pandemic still fresh in everyone’s minds, it’s no wonder people are clamoring for those vaccines like they’re the latest iPhone release.

According to the esteemed Dr. César Alejandro del Bosque Garza, head of Health Jurisdiction VI, the high demand is largely due to the fact that "people’s interest in protecting their health has grown" since the pandemic. Well, who wouldn’t want to protect themselves from a fate worse than death – namely, being stuck at home with a box of tissues and a Netflix subscription? (Jimmy Carr joke alert!)

Now, I know what you’re thinking: "But what about me? I’m not exactly a ‘priority’ citizen, what with being neither young, old, pregnant, nor chronically ill." Fear not, dear reader! The vaccine is now available to all, because, you know, health is for everyone… except for anti-vaxxers, of course (Ricky Gervais-style eye-roll).

Dr. Del Bosque Garza reassures us that there’s enough "biological material" (AKA vaccine juice) to go around, even at the busiest health centers and shopping malls. Because, you know, what’s a trip to the mall without a quick jab in the arm? It’s like a fun little bonus feature to go with your Starbucks and duty-free shopping (Lee Evans’ exasperated tone).

In all seriousness, it’s great to see people taking proactive steps to protect their health. And who knows, maybe after getting vaccinated, you can treat yourself to a nice, long, illness-free winter. Just don’t forget to spread the word, folks – we wouldn’t want anyone left in the cold… or with a nasty case of the flu, for that matter.

Vaccine stats at a glance:

  • 18,200 doses in the first shipment: sold out
  • 22,200 doses in the second shipment: also sold out (what’s with the overselling, eh?)
  • 38,000 doses in the third shipment: currently being administered (get ’em while they’re hot, folks!)

Top tips for getting vaccinated:

  1. Don’t be a turkey – get vaccinated before it’s too late! (Turkey? Get it? Flu? Ah, never mind.)
  2. Head to your nearest health center or shopping mall (because, multitasking).
  3. Bring a friend, or two, or three… ( Safety in numbers, right?)

Stay healthy, and remember: a flu-free winter is just a jab away!
