Torrential rains, floods and landslides now affect Arequipa

Torrential rains are now affecting southern Peru, with Arequipa being the most affected region. The streets of its capital ended up flooded while the force of the huaicos swept away heavy machinery.

Witnesses recorded on video the exact moment in which the turbulent waters dragged a backhoe. The overflows of the rivers have caused the city to end up flooded.

The bypass of the busy Los Incas avenue was under water and many cars were affected. Taxi drivers, passengers and passers-by were in danger.

Neighbors of Arequipa affected by landslides

In the city of Arequipa several areas were also covered in mud, affecting houses and businesses. The victims ask the authorities for help after the huaicos and floods.
