Torrejonera, Bárbara Herrera, runner-up in Spain in rhythmic gymnastics teams in the absolute children’s category

Torrejón de Ardoz once again boasts of another success for its athletes. In this case, thanks to Bárbara Herrera, a promising young rhythmic gymnastics athlete, who was runner-up in Spain in the children’s absolute team category at the championship held in Zaragoza from 2 to 5 July. She came second in the hoop exercise, while she was third in the clubs exercise. This, together with the result of her teammate Nohara González in the rope exercise, meant that in the general classification they were in second position out of 43 participating teams, taking home the silver medal.

Torrejón de Ardoz, July 24, 2024. Bárbara Herrera is 13 years old and began practicing rhythmic gymnastics at the age of 6 at CD Parque Cataluña, a club with which she competed in two Spanish championships in the youth category. She currently competes with the San Fernando de Henares Gymnastics Club under the orders of Sonia Abejón, from Torrejón and Olympian in Athens 2004, where she finished seventh in groups, earning a diploma.

In addition to this runner-up position in the Spanish team championship, Bárbara Herrera’s list of achievements also includes a silver medal in the Extremadura Championship in 2023 with the Nashira Club and this year the gold medal in the Community of Madrid Championship with the San Fernando de Henares Gymnastics Club.

“Congratulations on this excellent result in the Spanish Championship, where you have competed against the best gymnasts in our country in the children’s category. The effort and work of the whole season has been rewarded and I encourage you to continue working as hard in the future,” said the mayor, Alejandro Navarro Prieto.
