Los Angeles (AFP) – Toronto sent a message to defending champion Tampa Bay with a 5-0 victory to start their NHL playoff 1st round streak on Monday, while Carolina, St. Louis and Los Angeles also made successful debuts.

The Lightning, which is looking to become the first team since the New York Islanders in 1982 to win the Stanley Cup three times in a row, took the water of entry to the Maple Leafs in particular guided by Auston Matthews, author of a double and of a pass.

The Carolina Hurricanes also started strong, beating the Boston Bruins 5-1, thanks to Vincent Trocheck and Seth Jarvis, one goal and one assist each, but also their goalkeeper Antti Raanta, author of 35 saves.

In the West, a David Perron hat-trick helped the St. Louis Blues win 4-0 at the Minnesota Wild.

Finally, the Los Angeles Kings have also recovered the advantage of the ice, imposing 4-3 in Edmonton.
