TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays remained on the verge of advancing to the postseason, following falling 7-5 on Saturday to Taylor Walls and the Tampa Bay Rays in 10 innings.

Toronto (89-72) still had a couple of additional avenues to make the playoffs on Saturday. A Seattle loss to Texas would give the Blue Jays a wild card ticket. Missteps by the Mariners and Houston, who played in Arizona, would guarantee the Blue Jays the second of the three available tickets in the American League and would leave a series of a maximum of three games agreed in Tampa Bay.

Walls gave the Rays a 6-4 lead with a two-run single off Jordan Hicks (3-9) with two outs in the 10th. Dominican Junior Caminero then pushed his compatriot Raimel Tapia with an RBI single.

Right-hander Chris Devenski (6-4) pitched two innings to take the win, despite receiving an RBI double from Bo Bichette in the tenth inning.

For the Rays, the Dominicans Caminero 5-1 with an RBI, Manuel Margot 4-1, Tapia without an official turn with a run scored. Mexicans Randy Arozarena 5-1 with two runs scored, Isaac Paredes 5-2, Jonathan Aranda 1-0. Colombian Harold Ramírez 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Venezuelan Osleivis Basabe without an official turn but with one scored. Panamanian Christian Bethancourt 4-2. Cuban Yandy Díaz 1-0.

For the Blue Jays, Dominican Vladimir Guerrero 0-4. Mexican Alejandro Kirk 1-for-5 with one run scored.
