Too grilled (or boiled) on a rooftop by 30°, tired of the guinguettes and their endless lines, leaving for a drink and more if you like or just curious regarding changing addresses, we toured Belgium and the colleagues to draw up a small list of bars, brasseries or restaurants that we find original and with extra water, trees and/or charm. To prolong the summer under the famous weather “dome”.
Some water
The Terraces of the Lock. This restaurant is one of the most popular in the region. It must be said that the place has allure with its geometric shapes, space and tasty cuisine. Advice: book! Chaussée de Liège 477, 5100 Legs.
BLV Lake. This is the newest addition to the restoration of Lake Genval, this magnificent site between Walloon and Flemish Brabant. Born last summer, the BLV Lake is all-in-one: aperitif, finger food or licked dishes and dance evenings. A bit “did you see me maybe” but the decor is great, the festive atmosphere and the terrace with central bar and panorama, splendid. Open for lunch and dinner from Thursday to Sunday. Meerlaan 227, 3090 Overijse
The Tri-Funny. Located on the edge of the Plate Taille lake, this restaurant offers a panoramic and superb view of the water. Bistronomic and sustainable cuisine. The terrace has been ranked among the most beautiful in Belgium. Rue de Oupia 4/26440 Froidchapelle (Peruwelz)

Le Dolce La Hulpe, this spa and wellness hotel is nestled in the heart of the Sonian forest and the word “break” really takes on its full meaning. We know less that you can sit there on the open terrace for lunch, dinner or just an aperitif at the Bar Badian. Chaussée de Bruxelles 135, La Hulpe
Woodpecker Drohme. The historic Villa du Pesage now offers a quiet place-to-be in the wooded area of the Hippodrome de Boitsfort. We take a seat on the large green terrace and exit Brussels, here we are in a timeless place with a particular charm. Also with brunch, live music, followingwork and aperitif menu on the program. The 7 Maas. This hotel-restaurant offers a simply fabulous panorama of the region and the river, as well as unusual accommodation (bubbles, perched cabin, wellness sphere, etc.). The cuisine is refined and you can drink an aperitif on the large terrace in height but also giving shade. Sart at Soilles 27, 5170 Profondeville.

Restaurant roof. This beautiful address in Walloon Brabant has become a safe bet for the atmosphere and the cuisine. The terrace is inspired by the lounge made in Ibiza! The view, on the other hand, is bucolic between farms and groves, we love… Afterwork cocktails, aperitif before going to eat French and Sardinian cuisine, tasty, it’s all won! 481 Chaussée de Tubize (2nd floor), 1420 Braine-l’Alleud
Yust. Ok it’s a rooftop but it’s worth the sunset visit at the very least. This terrace is perched on the 7th floor of the Yust building (also located in Antwerp) and offers a breathtaking view of the igneous Calatrava station and the new eco-district of Liège-Guillemins. €3 for a soft drink, ten euros for a cocktail, and €12 for a burger. The clientele is young, between back-packers and people from Liège! Esplanade Simone Veil 2, 4000 Liege
Unusual
The Brewery of the Namur aerodrome. Nestled in the heart of Namur in a large expanse of greenery, this airfield dating from the Second World War has become, over time, the landmark of propeller enthusiasts. The Brasserie de l’Aérodrome de Namur is worth a detour for its convivial cuisine and its atypical decor. In addition: spectacular view of the slopes, playground, petanque court and strategic selfie-zone. Rue Capitaine Aviateur Jacquet 44, 5020 Namur.
Bagheera. The terrace is a reflection of this disproportionate, classy and curious restaurant-club set up on the edge of the Bois de la Cambre. The decor leans towards the trendy establishments of the Côte d’Azur in France, seats 60, special cocktails and evenings that end with dancing. Chaussée de Waterloo, 782 – 1180 Uccle.
The Lilac terrace. This tapas bar with a unanimously appreciated and relaxed atmosphere is installed on a barge in Huy, deckchairs, lanterns and late-night music. Quai Dautrebande, opposite number 8, Huy
The Arches. This is the (ephemeral) open-air bar adjoining Doctor Jack in Braine L’Alleud. 400 m² south-facing terrace, enchanting and quirky Tomorrowland-style atmosphere and hotspot for themed DJ evenings from 6 p.m. 3 closed Lamartine, Braine-l’Alleud.
