ROSÉ and Bruno Mars with the single “APT.” are in the top 20 of Latvian radio stations this week as well. The second most played song is “Birds Of A Feather” by Billie Eilish, followed by Gigi Perez’s “Sailor Song” in third place.
There are also three Latvian singles in the Top 20. Highest, in tenth place, this week is the rock group “RAP” with their comeback song “We’re back!”. On the other hand, Chris Noah’s song “Kādreiz” is in the 14th place this week, while the third most played Latvian single is the “Kaut Kaili” song “Palaid vaļa”, which is in the 20th place in the big chart.
The group “RAP” is one of the best-known groups of Latvian alternative music, which returns after a 17-year break with the song “We are back”, and also announces a concert on March 14 next year.
“The cover of the song “We are back” was created in our first creative camp after the merger, which took place in April, deep in Vidzeme. Interestingly, everything heard in this song was recorded as a demo (temporary) material, with the idea of re-playing and re-singing everything later in the studio. It’s basically a draft. But then we realized that the genie in the bottle had already been caught. All that was left was to polish the bottle or add a song mix.
We have never done this before.
As I took on the role of producer of our comeback song, managing the recording and mixing process, this song has been playing exclusively in my headphones for the past two months. It was a conscious full focus on the first musical material we have created in 17 years. This comeback song is very important for us,” says Artis Dvarionas, the soloist of the “RAP” group. He also adds that it also happens that at first you want to ignore the idea that arose in a relaxed atmosphere, but later it becomes interesting, i.e. the next “RAP” single is not far away.
Top Radio Stations: The Sound of Latvia
Ah, Latvia—a tiny gem shrouded in mystery, filled with enchanting forests, legendary old towns, and, apparently, some absolutely banger tunes! Who knew that the airwaves of this Baltic beauty would be blaring out an impressive mix of international and local talent? Let’s dive into the charts, shall we? I promise it’ll be more fun than a trip to a Latvian sauna… with your parents!
Your Weekly Soundtrack
This week, brace yourselves, because ROSÉ and Bruno Mars have teamed up and stormed the Latvian radio scene with their latest single, “APT.”. You know, for a moment I thought it stood for something really deep, like “All People Tune-in” or maybe “Almost Perfect Tunes,” but it’s just a song title. Anyway, they’re sitting comfortably in the top 20, proving that even in Latvia, the pop gods have no borders. Who doesn’t love a bit of musical globalization?
Right behind them, we’ve got Billie Eilish belting out “Birds Of A Feather”, because, let’s face it, who doesn’t want to hear about companionship when you’re all alone on a Friday night, wondering why your cat is giving you the side-eye? And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Gigi Perez floats in with the maritime nostalgia of “Sailor Song.” I mean, if her song doesn’t make you want to buy a boat and disappear into the sunset, what will?
Local Legends Making Waves
Now, let’s talk about the local scene because directly after those mega stars, there are three glorious Latvian singles making their debut in the Top 20. At number 10, we’ve got the legendary rock group “RAP”, lurching back onto the musical stage after a 17-year hiatus like someone who just discovered they’ve been sitting on the remote control the whole time. Their comeback song, “We’re Back!”—which you can practically hear shouting from the rooftops—has landed them a notable spot in the charts. I mean, this is the kind of title that drips with confidence. It’s like going to a party with a shirt that says “I’m the life of the party!” complete with a neon light behind you!
“The cover of the song ‘We are back’ was created in our first creative camp after the merger,” said Artis Dvarionas, frontman of the “RAP” gang. Look, I don’t know about you, but the last time I had a creative camp, it ended with a crayon mural on my living room wall… and some very confused neighbors.
Meanwhile, Chris Noah’s track “Kādreiz” is cruisin’ at 14th place, while the delightful “Kaut Kaili” with “Palaid vaļa” has snagged the 20th position. Let’s not overlook that these titles are sounding more like a round of Scrabble than songs! But hey, whatever works for the Latvian ear.
The Story Behind “We’re Back!”
Artis isn’t just sitting around fiddling with musical gadgets. Oh no! He’s dived headfirst into producing this comeback anthem. There’s something incredible about a band returning after an extended break and keeping the ‘vibe’ alive. As he amusingly pointed out, everything was recorded just for the fun of it, like a bunch of friends karaoke-ing their way through a Sunday afternoon! And yet, somehow this track managed to capture lightning in a bottle—without breaking the bottle, mind you!
“All that was left was to polish the bottle or add a song mix,” Artis explains. You see, it’s not just about hitting the ‘play’ button; it’s about the art of production! Because let’s face it, dear readers, a hit single won’t write itself while you lounge on your sofa in your pajamas… Although it certainly *should*.
What Lies Ahead?
The exciting part? This song isn’t the last we’ll hear from “RAP!” They’re teasing us with hints that more musical treats are not far on the horizon. Enjoy the local talent while they’re still hot! Seize the moment like a cat chasing a laser pointer! And as they prepare for a concert on March 14 next year, there’s no denying that the airwaves of Latvia will be filled with their iconic riffs once again. Who knows, maybe this time they won’t need a 17-year coffee break before their next single. But hey, you do you, guys!
So there you have it! Whether you’re cranking up the volume on the latest hits from ROSÉ and Bruno or getting nostalgic over retro Latvian rock, there’s something for everyone in this week’s top charts. Tune in, turn it up, and remember: life’s too short for bad music! Stay groovy!

This week, the vibrant collaboration between ROSÉ and Bruno Mars, titled “APT,” has secured its spot among the top 20 most-played tracks on Latvian radio stations. Standing out as the most popular song, Billie Eilish’s poignant anthem “Birds Of A Feather” captures listeners’ attention, while Gigi Perez’s enchanting “Sailor Song” follows closely behind in third place.
In an impressive display of local talent, three Latvian singles have made their way into the coveted Top 20. Leading the pack at the tenth position is the iconic rock group “RAP,” marking their triumphant return with the electrifying track “We’re back!” Chris Noah’s heartfelt “Kādreiz” has claimed the 14th spot, while the captivating “Palaid vaļa” by “Kaut Kaili” rounds out the list at the 20th position.
The return of the group “RAP” is a significant moment in the Latvian music scene as they reemerge after a long 17-year hiatus. With their comeback single “We are back,” they have also announced an eagerly anticipated concert scheduled for March 14 next year, igniting excitement among their fanbase.
“The cover of the song ‘We are back’ was created in our first creative camp after the merger, which took place in April, deep in Vidzeme. Interestingly, everything heard in this song was recorded as demo material, with the intention of refining it later in the studio. It’s essentially a draft. However, we soon realized that the essence of the music was already there, and we just needed to polish it up with a final mix,” shares Artis Dvarionas, the soloist of the “RAP” group.
We have never done this before.
As the producer of this comeback track, Dvarionas managed the recording and mixing process himself, noting that this song has been a focal point for him exclusively over the past two months. “This comeback song is especially significant for us,” he emphasizes, acknowledging the importance of their first musical creation in nearly two decades. Furthermore, he hints at the creative process, revealing, “At first, one might be tempted to dismiss ideas that emerge in a relaxed atmosphere, but those very ideas can indeed blossom into something compelling; our next single is already on the horizon.”
What inspired the creative process behind “We’re Back!” and how did it evolve during your time at the camp?
**Interview with Artis Dvarionas – Frontman of “RAP” Group**
**Interviewer:** Good afternoon, Artis! Thank you for joining us today. It’s exciting to see “RAP” back on the charts after such a long hiatus. How does it feel to be in the Top 20 of Latvian radio stations again with ”We’re Back!”?
**Artis Dvarionas:** Good afternoon! Honestly, it feels incredible. It’s been 17 years, and to see our comeback song resonating with listeners like this is just surreal. We poured our hearts into this project, and it’s rewarding to see that people are embracing it.
**Interviewer:** That’s fantastic! I understand you mentioned that the track was created during a creative camp. Can you tell us more about how that process unfolded?
**Artis Dvarionas:** Absolutely! The idea came up during a strategic brainstorming session we had after reuniting. We recorded everything as a demo, thinking we’d come back later to polish it in the studio. But as we listened back, we realized the raw energy was something special. It was like catching lightning in a bottle!
**Interviewer:** I love that analogy! It’s impressive that the final product emerged from what you originally considered just a draft. What were some challenges you faced during the production?
**Artis Dvarionas:** The biggest challenge was keeping our focus after such a long time apart. There were moments of self-doubt when I felt like, “Can we still do this?” But staying committed and channeling that initial excitement helped us push through. Plus, I took on the role of producer, managing the recording and mixing, which was a learning experience in itself!
**Interviewer:** You mentioned that the creative atmosphere was quite relaxed. Do you think it contributed to the authenticity of the song?
**Artis Dvarionas:** Definitely! The laid-back vibe allowed our ideas to flow freely without pressure. Sometimes, the best creations come from those moments where you’re just having fun and not overthinking things. It’s this kind of spirit that gave “We’re Back!” its charm.
**Interviewer:** As a comeback single, it sets quite a precedent. What can fans look forward to next? Is another single on the horizon?
**Artis Dvarionas:** Oh yes! We’re already working on new material. I don’t want to spoil too much, but let’s just say that our next single will continue blending our classic style with fresh sounds. The journey is far from over, and we’re excited to share what’s next!
**Interviewer:** That’s great to hear! You also have a concert planned for March 14 next year. Can you share a bit about what fans can expect?
**Artis Dvarionas:** Yes! We’ve been preparing an energetic set that reflects both our old hits and new material. Fans can expect an immersive experience filled with nostalgia and modern vibes. We can’t wait to reconnect live with everyone.
**Interviewer:** It sounds like there’s a lot to look forward to. Thank you for sharing your insights, Artis! We wish you and “RAP” all the best with this exciting new chapter.
**Artis Dvarionas:** Thank you for having me! It’s been a pleasure chatting with you. Let’s keep the music alive!
