Dak Prescott completed over 80 percent of his passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Dallas Cowboys to a 43-20 rout of the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday.
It was the eighth time in his career that the former Mississippi State standout and two-time Pro Bowler has thrown four TD’s in a single game, which tied Danny White for the second-most in Cowboys’ history.
Prescott’s efforts earned him a perfect 158.3 passer rating and received the highest passing grade (90.5) and offensive grade (92) from Pro Football Focus (PFF) among NFL quarterbacks during Week 8. His 93.2 PFF grade over the past two games also leads all NFL signal callers.
The Bulldogs also had several stellar performances on the other side of the ball as well in Week 8. Jeffery Simmons and Denico Autry combined for three sacks in the Tennessee Titans’ win. In addition to his two sacks, Simmons also forced a fumble and earned the Titans’ top defensive grade (84.5).
In what proved to be his final game with the Washington Commanders, Montez Sweat also provided a pair of sacks and forced a fumble. Sweat was traded to the Chicago Bears before the trade deadline on Tuesday.
Preston Smith recorded his 62nd career sack and graded out tops on the Green Bay Packers in total defense (92.8), pressure (91.3) and coverage (91.5). Smith’s PFF defensive and pressure grades in Week 8 were second in the NFL among edge rushers while his coverage grade led the league at that position.
Martin Emerson snagged an interception for the second week in a row and earned the top coverage grade for the Cleveland Browns. He also tied for the team lead with six tackles and received the No. 3 defensive grade on the team.
Rookie Cameron Young stacked up a career-high in tackles while Chris Jones notched four stops, including a tackle for loss. Jones ranks sixth in the NFL among interior defensive linemen in pressures, one spot ahead of Simmons.
For the second consecutive game, Willie Gay Jr. recovered a fumble and is tied for the league lead in that category with three on the year.
Logan Cooke was only called upon three times in Jacksonville’s win over the Steelers but was able to pin two of his three punts inside the red zone, including one at the 2-yard line. Cooke continues to be the NFL’s all-time leader in career net punting average at 43.5 yards since that stat started being officially tracked in 1976.
